Flowers at Farleigh House, Near Bath

Farleigh House is a gorgeous wedding venue just 5 minutes down the road from me in Farleigh Hungerford. It also happens to be one of my favourite venues. Firstly, it has that ‘wow’ factor when you approach via the winding drive, especially on a sunny day when the house stands out against a blue sky. It’s also run by the most lovely team who are always on hand to help wherever possible - including with suppliers which is always appreciated but not often the case in some of these venues. Most importantly though, it has so many options when it comes to flowers.

Outside of Farleigh House

The castle courtyard area has to be one of my favourite areas of Farleigh and an excellent choice for a ceremony. Here, the acoustics are great, the lighting is fab and it just has a really nice intimate atmosphere. I can just imagine a string quartet playing here and sounding incredible.

Next to the chapel is another beautiful outside space. Here you have some ‘built in’ flower arrangements in the shape of the well-designed perenial beds. You can use the shape of the large doorway to create a feature design or use floor meadows to create a crescent arrangement.

Of course the inside ceremony space is also a good option if the weather isn’t playing ball. The grand staircase is a beautiful backdrop and can be lined each side with flower meadows.

Marquees in the grounds of Farleigh House also offer opportunity for floral decoration. Marquees can be a bit of a blank slate so you really have to use quite a bit of imagination to see what they can become. Hanging arrangements are always a good option because they lower the perceived height of the space and create a really good impact. We have also surrounded marquees with pots and plants to bring the outside in.
